Handbags For Life: Kardashian Wedding Makes Millions -September 10, 2011 byslickpanda

Kardashian/Humphries Wedding Makes Millions

Kim Kardashian NYC WeddingFamous New York Wedding Photographers take the photos that are a must have in the world of celebrity weddings. They can also be a smart investment if a celebrity plays their cards right. Recently, People magazine overpaid an obscene amount of money for the rights to Kim Kardashian’s NYC Wedding Photos. The bidding war ended after the weekly magazine outbid every other tabloid, and won the opportunity to spread the glitz and glamour at a laughable bargain of $1.5 million. The funniest part about the winning bid is…the pictures are boring? People Magazine clearly got caught up in winning such an exclusive offer, as they really didn’t have much to showcase of such a famous big name wedding between Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries.

Even if this romance turns out to be like most celebrity weddings, the happy couple have walked away with some serious cash on their wedding day. The best part is there was the second wedding reception in New York City on August 31st.

The New York Post reported a breakdown of exactly how much the Kardashian/Humphries made on their special day. The E! Wedding special brought in $15M, wedding photos to People: $1.5M, engagement photos: $300K, bridal shower photos to OK! racked up another $100K, bachelorette party at Tao, Las Vegas: $50K.

To add to the money coming in, the freebies were at a premium; there were the free invitations and half a million dollars of Perrier-Jouet champagne for free as well.  Business owners were clearly happy to hand out some freebies to get their name mentioned. Not only is her use of a product  the best endorsement money can buy, it can drive trends according to Mogulite.com. Trends translate into people buying things and in turn, that drives the economy.

This wedding in my opinion is a business investment. The Kardashians, as annoying as they are, know how to bring in the dollars. Call out some celebrities for guests, pimp out the cost of the photos and freebies, and laugh your way to the bank.

Forget cheese sandwiches and bowls of nuts, this American restaurant was offering the world’s most expensive buffet for the astounding sum of $20,000. With prices like that you have to wonder what they Bet on Sports at last weeks Super Bowl.

Casting soggy cocktail sausages to one side and bringing in haute cuisine chefs, for your Manhattan’s Old Homestead Steakhouse will provide their executive chef and his entire cooking staff to rustle up the incredible finger food for you and 25 friends.Taking over your kitchen to prepare and cook the spread, the Old Homestead Steak House has warned that those faint of wallet and of course stomach shouldn’t attempt their five figure smorgasbord. Laid out as part of their spread are fresh cut french fries smothered in Kobe beef, to go along with Kobe beef burgers and hot dogs. This is then followed up with artery busting prime aged sirloin steak covered in shavings of black truffles on toasted baguettes, horseradish encrusted chicken wings topped with Beluga caviar. In addition, you could go for a little bit of surf and turf by throwing some Maine lobster and in season Miami stone crabs on your plate. If that is not enough then the lucky owner of this huge food spread can chow down on some tortillas covered in smoked salmon and creme fresh, to be finished off with filet mignon kebabs and of course the finest French Champagne.

Secret Pig Island -January 25, 2011 byslickpanda

A swimming pig off the island of Big Major Cay, in the central Bahamas. These amazing pigs swim every day in the crystal clear waters of the Bahamas. They show off their piggy-paddle to visitors who flock to their beach to see the extraordinary site of wild pigs making a splash in the beautiful turquoise sea. One bright pig called Plato has become so famous he now stars in his own book, The Secret of Pig Island, where his exploits have been captured by photographer and ocean guide, Jim Abernethy, 52, from Florida. As this collection of photographs from the book shows, the pigs are remarkably well adapted to their beach bum lifestyle of frolicking the water and lazing on the sand
